Awards

Prizes are awarded annually for media law, public affairs, shorthand and sports journalism. 

 

Media law

·      The Johnston Press Media Law Award is presented each academic year for the best performance in media law: court reporting (and associated matters). To enter, students must achieve 80 per cent or more in the court reporting paper. The prize consists of a cheque for £250 and a certificate.

 ·

      The Oxford University Press Media Law Award is presented each academic year for the best performance in media law: general reporting (excluding court reporting). To enter, students must achieve 80 per cent or more in the general reporting paper. The prize consists of a cheque for £250 and a certificate.


Public affairs

·      The LGCommunications Public Affairs Award is presented each academic year for the best performance in public affairs: local government. To enter, students must achieve 80 per cent or more in the local government paper. The prize consists of a cheque for £250 and a certificate.

 ·

      The Oxford University Press Public Affairs Award is presented each academic year for the best performance in public affairs: central government. To enter, students must achieve 80 per cent or more in the local government paper. The prize consists of a cheque for £250 and a certificate.

 

Shorthand

·      A prize is presented annually to the best shorthand note and transcription at 100 per cent accuracy for 100 words per minute.

 

·      A prize is also awarded each year to the best shorthand note and transcription at 100 per cent accuracy for 110 or 120 words per minute.

 

Sports Journalism

·         The Football League Sports Journalism Awards will be presented annually to three candidates for the best-performance in the sports journalism exam.  To enter, students must achieve an A grade in the exam. The winner of the award will report on the final of the Championship play-offs, the second place runner-up will report on League One and the third place runner-up will report on League Two. The match reports will be posted on The Football League’s website.
