The preliminary Certificate in Journalism qualification is the industry standard pre-entry qualification for trainee journalists. The qualification provides trainee journalists with the core skills required to gain employment in different sectors of the industry.

2. the National Certificate Examination (NCE)
The National Certificate Examination (NCE) is the industry’s professional qualification that trainee journalists with at least 18 months employment can take to achieve senior status as a journalist. Employers who support the programme register trainees with the NCTJ and a logbook providing evidence of training and experience is completed before taking the exams.
