NCTJ chairman debates the future of traditional journalism

An NCTJ student from the University of Sheffield has been nominated for a literary award for her first book.

Amy Durrant, whose debut novel Prisms was published in July by US publishing house Rainstorm Press, has now been nominated for the 2013 London Book Award.

Amy said: “To receive such an accolade so close to the book launch is very humbling. It’s always been a dream of mine to have a book in print and follow in the steps of some of my literary heroes.”

The novel tells the tale of two parallel worlds which are “wastelands of corruption” and a 17-year-old girl’s fight against the political system.

It is available to purchase as a paperback and an ebook.

Amy is also holding a book signing this Saturday (24 November) at the Sheffield Waterstones in Orchard Square from 1-2pm.
