Certificate in Foundation Journalism awarded UCAS points

The Level 3 Certificate in Foundation Journalism has been awarded a UCAS tariff of 50 points.

The qualification provides an introduction to journalism. It may be used as a first step for candidates considering a career in journalism or by those wishing to develop their journalistic skills for a specific purpose, including community journalism and PR and communications.

It has been piloted by Brighton Journalist Works at two of their local schools and with adult learners. It is an ideal preparatory qualification for sixth-formers interested in journalism. The new UCAS tariff for those who complete the qualification can be used towards accessing higher education degree courses.

If you would be interested in working with sixth-formers as a training provider, please contact Lyn Jones, NCTJ head of qualifications.
