The NCTJ’s per capita membership scheme is designed to spread the costs of running the NCTJ charity fairly across media employers. An annual contribution is made by each company in the scheme based on the number of full-time and part-time editorial staff employed.
The annual membership fee is payable in July each year. Members of the NCTJ have reduced registration fees for their trainees. Discounts are also available on short courses and other products and services. Trainees should be registered with the NCTJ as soon as they are employed to enable them to be issued with a logbook, an essential part of the National Qualification in Journalism (NQJ). They must complete at least 18 months of employment before they can take the NQJ exams.
All centres running NCTJ-accredited courses are members of the NCTJ. The annual membership fee for accreditation is payable in January each year.
