Online Graduate Trainee
The New Statesman is seeking a determined, talented and knowledgeable writer with a background in economics and journalism to join its online team. The successful candidate will help manage the expanding business and economy sections of newstatesman.com on a day-to-day basis - writing, editing and publishing high-quality copy in a timely manner.
Ideally the successful candidate will have an economics degree, an interest in finance and business and an understanding of how to use data to tell interesting stories. Knowledge of online publishing tools and software is desirable, as is the use of social media. A postgraduate qualification in journalism would be an advantage as would a portfolio of published writing.

Work Experience, work from home
FENews.co.uk, the online news site covering the further education, skills and welfare to work sectors, are looking for a work experience reporter.
The role will initially involve remotely researching leads and writing up news stories to tight deadlines. Assignments could later include attending conferences and events, where you can hone your skills in interviewing industry experts ranging from Government Ministers to College Principals.
To be successful you must be able to work on your own iniative, have already completed journalism training (ideally NCTJ qualified), and be confident of being able to adapt your writing style to suit our readership, who are predominately high level decision makers within colleges, training providers and the government. You must be available to hit deadlines and be able to prove the standard of your work.
This is a work experience post where you will be working from home. So you will need to have access to a computer and the internet. This is a great role to develop your portfolio of published work and all articles are credited by author.
We are flexible with working hours, but it is essential that you are able to hit story deadlines.

Video Journalists
Sky is looking for video-journalists for a pilot website providing local news, sport and community information to audiences in the North East of England.
Candidates should ideally have a postgraduate qualification in journalism and have experience of shooting video and editing on Final Cut Pro.
You will be expected to cover both news and sports stories. You will be a self-starter with a strong news sense, a sound knowledge of media law and the ability to write well for video and the web. You will also have a passion for innovative ways of telling stories and have a good broadcasting voice and screen presence.
This is a 7 day service so you will be expected to work some evenings and weekends.

Community Manager
If you are passionate about local communities and the exciting possibilities offered by digital media, this is your chance to manage an events listings section on a pilot website providing local news, sport and community information to audiences in the North East of England. You will also supervise and moderate user interactivity.
Web experience and a sound knowledge of the law as it applies to moderation is a must, together with experience of working in a similar role on a publisher's digital platform.

QS AIM - QS Academic International Mobility - is a new global jobs portal that will support the increasing trend for university academics to work at an overseas university.

WORK EXPERIENCE PLACEMENT![]()
The Methodist Recorder, a weekly, national newspaper, has an opportunity for a work experience placement in its London office.
The successful candidate (who will be paid some expenses) will have the opportunity to develop journalism skills as well as assist with newspaper office duties (including administrative). Knowledge of Quark desirable but not essential. There may be potential for future freelance work following a successful work experience placement.
