The Shine School Media Awards are designed to stimulate and support an interest in the future of the publishing, media and communications industries. The competition provides a platform for secondary school pupils to develop skills, literacy and creativity in journalism, design, illustration, photography and IT.
To enter the Shine Awards, pupils work as a team to produce a publication which can be in hard copy, online or both – a school magazine, newspaper, newsletter, digital edition or website. Developed and supported by the Stationers’ Charitable Foundation and in its sixth year the Shine Awards competition encourages young and creative talent as well as a respect for copyright and an understanding of environmental issues.
The Shine mission is to involve and engage with young people and to interest them in a choice of careers in publishing, print, and media communications. The Stationers’ 600 year old passion for words underpins this event and the Shine Awards are playing a part in passing that passion on to a new generation.
