Diploma awards

Prizes are awarded annually for media law, public affairs, shorthand and sports journalism. 
 
Media law
 
The Johnston Press Media Law Award is presented each academic year for the best performance in media law: court reporting. Students must achieve 80 per cent or more in the court reporting paper. The prize consists of a cheque for £250 and a certificate.
 
The Oxford University Press Media Law Award is presented each academic year for the best performance in essential media law. Students must achieve 80 per cent or more in the media law paper. The prize consists of a cheque for £250 and a certificate.
 
Public affairs
 
The Oxford University Press Public Affairs Award is presented each academic year for the best performance in essential public affairs. Students must achieve 80 per cent or more in the public affairs paper. The prize consists of a cheque for £250 and a certificate.
 
Sports Journalism
 
The Football League Sports Journalism Awards will be presented annually to three candidates for the best-performance in the sports journalism exam. Students must achieve an A grade in the exam. The winner of the award will report on the final of the Championship play-offs, the second place runner-up will report on League One and the third place runner-up will report on League Two. The match reports will be posted on The Football League’s website.
 
Shorthand
 
The Ryman shorthand awards are presented to the best shorthand note and transcription at 100 per cent accuracy for both 100 words per minute and 110 or 120 words per minute. Two winners each receive a certificate and cheque for £250.

Videojournalism

The Archant videojournalism award is presented each academic year for the best performance in the videojournalism for online exam. The winner receives a certificate and cheque for £250.
