Membership
The NCTJ’s per capita membership scheme spreads the costs of running the NCTJ fairly across all newspaper companies. An annual contribution is made by each company in the scheme based on the number of full-time and part-time editorial staff employed.
The annual membership fee is payable on 1 July. The current fee is £21 per head for full-time and £10.50 for part-time editorial staff. A discount is offered for prompt payment.
Members of the NCTJ have a vastly reduced registration fee for their trainees. Discounts are also available on short courses.
Trainees should be registered with the NCTJ as soon as they are employed to enable them to be issued with a Logbook, an essential part of the National Certificate Examination (NCE). They must complete at least 18 months of employment before they can take the NCE.
